Case 7
History:
35 year old man with foot injury
Findings:
X-ray of the foot showing separation of the first and second metatarsal bases with fractures of the base of the adjacent metatarsal bones.
Diagnosis:
Discussion:
The incidence of Lisfranc joint fracture dislocations is one case per 55,000 persons each year. Thus, these injuries account for fewer than 1 percent of all fractures. They are often misdiagnosed. Mechanism involves severe plantar flexion of the foot.
